Carine Van Hee is born in Blankenberge and is living and working close to Mechelen .
Carine has drawn artistic inspiration from the joy and laughter that erupts from seeing Jonas Gerard at work, and, especially, the strong use of colors in the work of Gerhard Richter. Richter's expertize in layering and his use of colors that keep their brightness, is what inspires Carine.
“I am driven by a deep desire to nourish the feminine. I am moved by women who are so brave to go into the arena each day and unchain their voices to speak up and touched by those who are not yet there. Through my work, I encourage women to show their true colors and to fly high with the wings they were given. By the same means, my work challenges men to dare to use their feminine qualities, contemporary society so dearly is in need of.”
“My work consists of mixed media paintings in which I play with the boundaries between the abstract and the figurative, as lines and colors will tell different stories to different people.”
Carine adores travelling with only a backpack, and has been working as a volunteer with the streetkids of Cartagena, Colombia and the indignious women of Otavalo, Ecuador. In addition to being a poet, Carine is currently writing a non-fiction book with the working title: 'Unusual You – follow your true colors'.
